THINGS TO SEE AND DO AROUND NAROOMA

The incredibly beautiful Eurobodalla Coast covers over 100 Kilometres of spectacular coastline and amazingly scenic hinterland along the south coast of NSW. This is some of Australia's best coastal playground where you can experience a wide diversity of our natural environments, flora and fauna. 

The region commences near the major centre of Batemans Bay in the north and extends just south of Tilba Tilba. Other townships situated here include: Narooma, Moruya, Bodalla, Tuross heads and the historic villages of Central Tilba, Mogo and Nelligen.

Whilst visiting Narooma, be sure to:

  • visit the lookout near the Pilot Station
  • take a look at the seals sun baking on the rocks at the breakwall
  • have your portrait taken with Australia Rock
  • hire a boat from the Marina and try your luck at fishing
  • enjoy a BBQ and a leisurely walk along the foreshores
  • buy a souvenir from the markets (4th Sunday each month)
  • book a tour of Montague Island and meet the penguins, spot the whales and climb the lighthouse
  • jump on board the "Wagonga Princess"and learn the history of the inlet and the original Noorooma* township (*original spelling)
  • play a round of golf on the clifftop course - rated in Australia's Top 100
  • grab a map and choose your own route on a 4WD trip
  • catch a movie at the historic Narooma Kinema
  • take a day trip to Tilba located at the foot of Gulaga (Mount Dromedary) and hike to the top of the mountain. Treat yourself from one of the many curiosity shops or take part in a tasting at the Cheese Factory
  • a 30 minute drive takes you to Bermagui. Purchase some fish and chips and head up to the headland to enjoy the magical mountain and ocean views and then head back via Cobargo for more interesting shops
  • for the thrill seekers, a 45 minute drive will take you to Moruya airport where you can go skydiving and land on the beach.

Beaches – Bar Beach (northern side of Wagonga Inlet) - A great family beach with swimming, fishing and Apex park nearby for picnics. Carters beach is to the north at Kianga. Easy access, good car parking and toilet facilities available.

Aussie Rock aka Hole In The Rock – is a natural rock formation on the southern side of Wagonga Inlet and is a very popular backdrop for photographs. Take a stroll along the rock wall and there is usually seals sunning themselves on the rocks.

Golf Course - one of the most picturesque golfing courses on the coast with amazing views to Montague Island. Paul Hogan once hit a ball over the gap in a TV commercial many years ago. The Narooma Golf Club is an ideal venue to sit, relax and enjoy a good meal while watching the whales as they pass (in season) between the mainland and Montague Island.

Tourist Information Centre - located on the flat with the replica lighthouse frontage. You will find plenty of interesting things to do while you are visiting the area.

Marina & Boat Houses - Fosters Bay – many of the boat sheds are as they were at the turn of the century. Some good eating locations and a great spot to pick up a coffee and enjoy the extensive water views over Wagonga inlet. Stay a while and watch the sun set over the water - have your camera ready for that magical shot.

Fishing Spots – Wagonga Inlet has some of the best fishing in the area. Try your luck on the many easy accessible beaches. Salmon, Tailor, Bream, flathead and whiting are often the catch of the day.

Game Fishing - Montague Island is an internationally known deep sea fishing and anglers paradise, with an abundance of species and fishing competitions. Charter Boats for deep sea and game fishing trips are available daily.

Scenic Forest Drives – drive the old highway towards Central Tilba to enjoy some of the best the forests have to offer. Stop in at the old Wharf, another good fishing or photographic location. Also, there is plenty of birdlife around the area.

Central Tilba + Gulaga (Mt Dromedary) - Just a short drive south of Narooma is the historic township of Central Tilba. for those adventurous ones, climb up the mountain to enjoy spectacular views over the coast and hinterland.

Bermagui - Not far from Central Tilba is Bermagui with its amazing beaches and scenery. (for more info, visit www.bermaguirealestate.com.au and look under "things to do").

Camel Rock – just off Wallaga Lake Road, 8klms north of Bermagui sits the lifelike Camel Rock – great for swimming, fishing, and picnic area. There is a DOG friendly section of this beach (signposted).

 Horse Head Rock - around the corner from Camel Rock is Horse Head Rock. Access is via a nice walk along the path from the car park. 

 Sunsets & Sunrises - One Tree rock in the distance, a good fishing gutter, great company and a magical sunset.
